British War Medal 1914-20 (161 Pte. R. Bluck, 5 Cal. Bn. I.D.F.), good very fine

Raised in 1863 as the Calcutta Volunteer Rifle Corps, by 1917 the Corps had been renamed the 5th Calcutta Battalion, Indian Defence Force. The unit sent a 'Volunteer Maxim Battery', comprising two machine-guns, to East Africa during the Great War where they saw much service.
