1854 (19 July) envelope with enclosure from Camp Allydean to London bearing 1d. Stars plate 180, QJ-QL strip of three cancelled by London "43" numerals, the reverse with Post Office British Army despatch c.d.s. and London arrival (31.7), the long letter gives some details of what was happening there. Also 1855 (19 May) envelope with enclosure from Camp Kadikiri to Ireland bearing block of three 1d. perf.16 (S.G. C1) tied by London "14" numerals with the appropriate backstamps concluding at Colrane (1.6); the long letter complains about the heat and the flies but gives an account of the dinner menu at the mess, which includes English mutton and that he would be sending back his winter clothes.
