The Remarkable "Ellerby Area" Hoard of English Gold Coins (1610-1727) | NGC VF35 | George I (1714-1727), 'Hanoverian Arms at Date', Guinea, 1716, fourth laureate head right, rev. crowned shields cruciform, eight strings to harp, eight hearts to Hanoverian shield at date and emblem adorned sceptres rotated 90 degrees clockwise in error, edge obliquely milled, 8.33g [128.6grns], 5h (PAS: YORYM-18E848 = BM 2019 T668/207 this coin; MCE 248 variety; EGC - (cf. 506 [R5]); Farey 607 [ER]; Spink 3631), highly superficial marks in bright but otherwise lustrous fields, the portrait softly struck otherwise almost very fine, the reverse clearly so, the overt but only recently discovered error exquisitely clear, extremely rare, with NGC 'Ellerby' Certification, graded VF35 (#6380983-207)
