The Remarkable "Ellerby Area" Hoard of English Gold Coins (1610-1727) | James I (1603-1625), Third Coinage, Crown Gold Issues [.917 Fine], Laurel, 24 June 1620 - 8 June 1621, Tower, (m.m.) IACOBVS D G MAG BRI FRA ET HIB REX, no stops, third laureate, draped and cuirassed bust left, inward curling ties, XX behind, rev. FACIAM | EOS IN | GENTEM | VNAM (m.m.), no stops, long cross fleury over large crowned square-topped Royal shield with rounded base, bird-headed harp with nine strings, 8.85g, 10h, m.m. rose [33] (PAS: YORYM-18E848 = BM 2019 T668/12 this coin; Lingford II, 1074a; Schneider II, 84; North 2113; Spink 2638A), a circular test punch before chin, and with light surface friction from soil exposure, otherwise residually lustrous on a neater round flan, softly struck in parts, otherwise surviving details almost very fine, with NGC 'Ellerby' Certification (#6380983-012)
