Shabani Post Office Fire
1954 (30 and 31 Dec.) envelopes, the former bearing 1d. pair and the latter bearing 1d., both tied by the "r.r./shabani" double-ring d.s. on loan from Rhodesia Railways which was pressed into emergency use for just two days when the Shabani Post Office was completely destroyed by fire in the early hours of the morning of 30th December. Accompanied by copy of letter dated 1955 (16 May) from B. J. Hunter, Stamp Dealer, advising his clients in the U.K. that a very small quantity of covers had been acquired and would soon be available to purchase from him; fascinating and scarce. Photo
