An original woodcut engraved essay, originally appended to the successful Tender, submitted by the Calvert brothers to the Victorian Government for the production of new 1d., 2d. and 4d. stamps (see p.107 in "The Stamps of Victoria" by Geoff Kellow), in brown-lilac on wove paper with name and duty tablets blank, cut down with small margins clear of framelines,. One of two recorded examples (see Colour Plate 8 in Kellow's book for illustration of other example), this one being discovered by the vendor in the 1970s. Also cutting from original Government Gazette giving notice of first Emblem (4d.) to be issued. Photo
