Die proof of a design for the 1d. value inscribed 'postage/ one penny' and showing the Queen's head bearing Imperial crown, lettered KH on white glazed card (60 x 92mm.); fine and scarce. Specialised from £2,400

Note: De la Rue submitted four cards of die proofs showing six designs each to Mr. Robertson at the Board of Inland Revenue. Robertson was very impressed by De la Rue's designs, eventually design D from Card A was selected for the new penny stamp.
