Great Britain
1841-53 One Penny Red-Brown
Plate 174: EA and EE, each separated by tearing with the expected uneven margins or parts of the design missing, tied to entire to London by red "545" barred oval cancellations of Newcastle upon Tyne, with matching c.d.s. of 2 Feb. 1854 on the reverse; the adhesives having been crossed by a pressed filing fold and the entire with some pinholes. A tremendous rarity. Penny reds from Plate 174 are among the rarest of this issue (Specialised £250 each) and combined with the red cancellations (Specialised £6,000 on piece, not priced on cover) combine to make this cover a significant 1d. red rarity. With M. Jackson Certificate (2022). Photo
