KL good to large margins, tied by red Maltese Cross and straight line 'charing cross' in black to 1840 (19 June) envelope to Bedford Row, signed "Hill", envelope with wax seal and small part of flap missing though the adhesive very fine.

Notes: Sir General Rowland Hill (1st Viscount Hill) served in the Napoleonic Wars as a trusted brigadier, division and cops Commander under Wellington. He became Chief of the British Army in 1828 and died in 1842.
