Postal History
1854 (13 Feb.) small envelope to Bedale, posted unpaid, with faint red c.d.s. and previously unrecorded blue "2" Postage Due handstamp of Northallerton, a variety of date stamps on reverse; a little soiled, fine. With original enclosure, a folded embossed and coloured Valentine card "You double-faced scoundrel, I'll show you your face ...". No wonder the sender did not pay the postage!
