A Fine and Lengthy Historical Letter
1631 (15 Aug.) entire letter from the Bishop of Lichfield and Coventry with integral address panel reading "To the Right Honorable my singular good Lord Henri Earle of Halland one of the Lords of his Maje. most hon. Privie Counsaile", contents contain a lengthy account of the conduct of Sir Arthur Mainwaring and are most interesting. A particularly fine letter with superb wax seal on reverse

Note: Sir Arthur Mainwaring (c.1580-1648) known to have forged records relating to a performance of Shakespeare's 'Othello' for Queen Elizabeth in an attempt to prove a connection to Shakespeare in order to enclose lands at Welcombe.
