1847 (12 Sept.) entire letter from Salem to May Hill P.O. and redirected to Mandeville, rated 12c. postage, 4d. Ship Letter (U.S. contract) plus 6d. Jamaica inland postage for a total of "10" plus a further 4d. for a total of "1/2", showing despatch c.d.s. in red, framed "Port Maria/hip letter" (Proud SL2) and, on reverse, light May Hill and Port Maria (9.11) datestamps and indistinct oval-framed "forwarding agent/....../port maria" h.s. (FAC3), the only example recorded by Foster and possibly to date. Rare with few examples of the Ship Letter recorded. Photo
