1845 (25 Sept.) entire letter from Salem to May Hill P.O., marked "via Philadelphia", rated 12c. postage and 1/- formed by 4d. Ship Letter (U.S. contract) and 8d. Jamaica inland postage, showing despatch c.d.s. and "ship" h.s. in blue, fine framed "Montego Bay/ship letter" (Proud SL2) and Spanish Town transit d.s. (13.11) with Montego Bay arrival d.s. (5.11) on reverse. Rare with less than a dozen examples recorded, and a month later than recorded by Proud. Photo
