1864-71 Watermark Large Star, Perforated 12½ at Auckland
1869 (16 Mar.) entire from Auckland to Gotha, Germany demonstrating a very unusual late use of the via Cape Horn route after 1860, carried on the Panama and New Zealand Royal Mail Steam Company's "Ruahine", bearing 2d. deep blue Plate II pair and 6d. red-brown each cancelled with "1" duplex and showing manuscript "6" in red crayon, london paid c.d.s.(3.6), oval-framed "PD" in red, unframed "P.D." and "(aus england per aachen)/ franco" double-ring datestamp in blue, the reverse with part sender's cachet and Gotha c.d.s.; the entire strengthened internally on folds, otherwise fine and rare.
