A249, 1842 (2 Jan.) addressed to The Duke of Leeds at Hornby Castle, Catterick with Gainford Penny Post in lower corner and Darlington c.d.s. on the reverse; redirected to Clarendon Hotel, London with 1841 1d. added (plate 17, FA, poor margins) and tied by Catterick Maltese Cross, the reverse with Catterick and London c.d.s. redirected back to Hornby Castle, this time bearing "Vigo Lane/1d PAID" handstamp in red and London Paid tombstone (4.1) with the final Catterick arrival (5.1) on the flap.
