1840 Mulready
Proofs
Early proof of a stereotype showing a partial frameline but without 'w. mulready r.a.' and 'john thompson' imprints in black on India paper (165 x 215mm.); fine and unique. R.P.S. Certificate (2018). S.G. MP2

Note: The left-hand side shows pronounced doubling which is undoubtedly the result of a bad pull rather than a feature of the plate. However, upon close examination there are numerous significant differences to the accepted stereotype. The exact status of this proof is currently unknown but it is possibly a rejected first attempt by John Thompson at producing a stereotype.
