A MAGNIFICENT EARLY COVER
1864 (28 Dec.) envelope ex the Coutts correspondence to London, marked "Via Marseilles", bearing India 8p., 2a. and 8a., all clearly cancelled by "B/172" obliterator and diamond of nine bars, showing red crayon "1/2" and fine double-ring "post office/sarawak" with manuscript date inserted, red arrival paid c.d.s. (15.2.65) and, on reverse, "singapore/p.o." double-ring d.s. in red. Irreftebly one of the most significant Sarawak covers extant; of the highest calibre - "sans pariel" in terms of both rarity and visual appeal. Photo
