The Relief of Ostend, Eighty Years' War and the Anglo–Spanish War
1601 (24 July) warrant from the Privy Council in Greenwich to Thomas Buckhurst, Lord Treasurer instructing payment of £15 in compensation to the Captains of troops sent from the County of Essex to relieve Ostend; payment is thus to be made to Sir Edward Read and Captain Francis Croftes.
Signed "Tho. Egerton", "T. Buckhurst", "Notingham", "W Knollys", "Ro Cecyll", "Fortescue".
Complete with integral address panel and filing endorsement. Usual foxing and tears to edges as to be expected, the two leaves reinforced vertically. An important Elizabethan document of historical importance. Photo
