Notes: King James VI and I (June 19th 1566 - March 27th 1625) was King of Scotland as James VI from 24 July 1567, then King of England and Ireland as James I from 1603 until his death.

As son of Mary, Queen of Scots and great-great grandson of Henry VII, James was uniquely positioned to accept the throne of England, Scotland and Ireland.
