1/- FRAME INVERTED
A Fine Used Example of this Famous and Important World-Renowned Rarity
!/- orange-yellow and red-orange, variety frame inverted, wonderful colours and centreing, neatly cancelled by part Manchioneal datestamp for 24 December 1921. An outstanding example of this variety, one of the rarest stamps of Jamaica. R.P.S. (1971) and B.P.A. (2011) Certificates. S.G. 85a, £25,000. Photo
Note: In March 1922 a small block of stamps, reported as ten and described as with centre's inverted, was found at the Manchioneal Post Office, a small village on the north east coast of the island. The General Post Office at Kingston had confirmed that only half a sheet of thirty stamps would have been sent to the Manchioneal Post Office at any one time. Examples are also known cancelled at Kingston but the stamp offered here has the romance of that initial discovery in rural Manchioneal. We record ten mint, including the corner pair, and ten used examples of this classic error.
