1864-71 Watermark Large Star
Perforated 12½ (comb or line) at Auckland

2d. pale blue, Plate I (worn), a block of fifteen (5x3) with many blind perforations due to the deterioration of the perforating heads, fresh bright colour and with large part original gum; a couple of small fox marks and one stamp at left with small fault, otherwise fine. A rare and spectacular multiple. Holcombe Certificate (1988). S.G. 113, £5,250+

Note: By the time that the watermark Large Star perf. 12½ stamps were being printed the original 2d. plate was in a poor state showing varying degrees of wear. Because of the advanced deterioration of the plate it was withdrawn and a new plate (Plate II) was laid down which came in to use in December 1865
