Charles, Elevation to the Prince of Wales, 1616, A Pair of Museum Uniface Electrotypes (Numbered. 54), in Silvered White-Metal, after Simon van de Passe, ILLUSTRISS : ET POTEN : PRINC CAROLUS MAGNÆ BRITANNIÆ ET HYBERNIÆ PRINCEPS EBOR : ET ALB : DUX, youthful portrait three-quarters right but head facing, wearing Order of St George, 48.5 x 60.5mm, 42.69g; the other, Charles rides right with plumed hat and General's baton, in the background, a view of Hampton Court, below a cartouche with coat of arms between CAROLVS - PRINCEPS, 42.47g (Falkiner, 'The Medallic Works of Simon de Passe, 6"; Hird [1974], 288 = Spink 82, 1991, lot 91), a faithful copy of this remarkable and highly fashionable medal struck in the year of Pocahontas' arrival in England, an excellent display piece for the prohibitively rare original (2 pieces)
