Müller, LVDOVICVS MAGNVS ANNA MAIOR •, Anne armed as Minerva overthrows Louis XIV armed as a Roman warrior, rev. twelve shields around, CVRA PVGNACIS FACTA MINERVAE, Victory with a palm leaf and crown, city in the distance, XII• VRBES CVM PROVINCIIS INTRA XV • D : RECEPTAE • 1706 in exergue in four lines, DOMINVS TRADIDIT EVM IN MANVS FOEMINAE on edge, 43mm, 29.64g (Eimer 421; MI ii 288/97; van Loon V, 39; Harding 37 this medal), a couple of hairlines to obverse field, otherwise with attractive dark grey surfaces, with much brilliance and cabinet toning, the intricate high relief areas pleasingly struck-up, extremely fine and very rare

The reverse of this medal shows a small figure of Victory surrounded by the shields of the twelve provinces of Brabant which had been freed from French rule. The obverse legend: Louis the Great, Anne the Greater is a direct and sarcastic reference to the recent assumption of the title Magnus by Louis.
