NGC PF63+ | George IV (1820-1830), Pattern Proof Crown, 1826 SEPTIMO, by Wyon after Chantrey, bare head left, rev. crowned shield with elaborate garnish, lettered edge downwards, 28.31g, 6h (L&S 27; Bull 2336; ESC 257; Davies 151; Spink 3806), an unfortunate rim bruise at reverse 6 o'clock, otherwise a beautifully honest example of this all too oft tampered with Proof of Record, rich original brilliance cloaked by interspersed hues of purples and reds, the reverse flared with arresting blue iridescence, much as struck, a true connoisseur's coin!, in NGC holder, extraordinarily graded PF63+ (Cert. #6295560-014)
