(g) NGC MS64 | USA, 'Capped Bust' Half-Eagle of Five-Dollars, 1812 $5, Philadelphia, by John Reich, capped and draped bust left, rev. E PLURIBUS UNUM in scroll above, Eagle facing left, milled edge, 8.76g, 6h (Bass-Dannreuther 1-A [BD-1A]; KM 38; Fb. 132), lustrous and sharply frosted, with only the deftest die rub to highest points of hair, a truly outstanding gold striking from the 'War of 1812' when the White House would be famously charred by British forces, and the Washington district re-captured for King George III for 26 hours, only 58,057 originally struck but as few as a dozen believed extant in this nigh-flawless state of preservation, extremely rare a true 'Screaming Eagle', in NGC holder, quite conservatively graded MS64 (Cert. #6295548-002)
