Richard II (1377-1399), Quarter-Noble, Type Ib/III Mule, Tower, + RICARD : DI : GRA : REX : ANG : shield in double-tressure of eight arches, trefoils on cusps, spandrels plain, double saltire stops, rev. + EXALTABITVR : IN : GLORIA, cross fleury, leopards in angles, pellet in centre, double saltire stops, 1.89g, 9h, m.m. cross pattée (Schneider I, 157 same obverse die; North 1319; Spink 1673/1675), slightly clipped, otherwise handsomely cabinet toned with flares of reddish ochre in reverse recesses, otherwise a pleasing very fine, rarely seen so fine
