(g) Victoria (1837-1901), 'Shieldback' Sovereign, 1838, Type A1, first young head left, W.W. raised on truncation, rev. crowned shield within normal laurel wreath, edge milled, 7.98g, 7h (Bentley 36; Marsh 22; Spink 3852), removed from a mount with resultant nicks to rim at quarters and pecking to bright fields, otherwise pleasingly struck up and bold on hairline for issue, rare and desirable thus
