Charles I (1625-1649), Briot's Second Milled Issue, Shilling, 1638-1639, crowned and draped late bust left, with falling lace collar, value behind, rev. square-topped shield over cross moline, 5.86g, 1h, m.m. anchor [rounded flukes to right] (Brooker 727 same dies; North 2305; Spink 2859), small flan split to edge at 8 o'clock, and the usual flan adjustment marks across portrait, otherwise sumptously toned with much residual lustre in recesses, struck details approaching extremely fine
