Edward the Confessor (1042-1066), 'Pointed Helmet' Type, Penny, 1053-1056, Dorchester, Blacman, draped bust right, wearing 'pointed' helmet, lys-tipped sceptre before, rev. + BLACEMAN ON DOR, voided short cross with voided-half quatrefoil terminals, annulet at centre, 1.31g, 9h (North 825; BMC VII; Spink 1179), richly cabinet toned accentuating sharp uniform devices, almost extremely fine, extremely rare, especially so in this attractive and presentable grade
