(x) Polar Medal 1904, 1 clasp, Antarctic 1927-32 (Commd. Engineer David Roy. R.N. (Rtd)), mounted as worn, good very fine
A uniquely dated clasp, issued as per the London Gazette of 7 October 1941.
David Roy was born at Dundee on 15 April 1876 and was a boilermaker by trade upon his joining the Royal Navy (No. 270778) on 12 September 1902. He served aboard King George V from 16 November 1912 and was commissioned Artificer Engineer on 1 January 1915. He latterly served aboard Southampton and in TB-26. Roy was retired due to his age on 15 April 1926 but served for some five seasons in the Antarctic as Chief Engineer aboard the William Scoresby from 1927-32.
Roy, who was further entitled to a 1914-15 Star Trio and the Russian Medal for Zeal, died on 23 March 1961.
