An interesting 1936 Northern Rhodesia O.B.E. group of five awarded to Lieutenant F. H. Lowe, 2nd Rhodesia Regiment and East African Protectorate Forces, later Supplies Representative for Northern Rhodesia

Frederick Harold Lowe was born at Stratford, London in 1890 and was educated at Forest Gate Grammar. He went out to Africa and by 1916 was working in the Treasury of Northern Rhodesia. Soonafter answering the call to arms, Lowe resigned his contract and joined the ranks of the 2nd Rhodesia Regiment before being commissioned into the East African Protectorate Forces.
Returned to Livingstone to set up as an accountant and latterly represented that place in the Legislative Council from 1929-32, also a Member of the Municipal Council from 1928-36. He also served as Mayor and Deputy Mayor for a number of periods.
Having been awarded his O.B.E. for public services in the Colony, he was appointed to the Rhodesia Railway Commission in 1936 and he was made Director of Supplies & Transport for Northern Rhodesia in 1940. In 1942 he was made the Supplies Reprentative in the Union for the Government and for four East African and four West African Governments; sold together with a copied article written by Lowe, including a portrait photograph.
