Charles Perry was born on 12 May 1874 at Tenby, Pembrokeshire and was a blacksmith by trade upon his joining the 4th Dragoon Guards on 4 August 1893. He served with one of just two Squadrons of the unit on the Punjab Frontier (Medal & clasp), being discharged to the Reserve on 3 August 1905. With the outbreak of the Great War, Perry was a Bank Messenger living at 4 Iverson Road, West Hampstead, upon his joining the Military Mounted Police. He served in France from 29 September 1915; sold together with copied research.
