(x) Transport 1899-1902, 2 clasps, China 1900, S. Africa 1899-1902 (G. H. C. Weston, In Command.), a little polished, very fine

G. H. C. Weston is confirmed on the Medal Roll with entitlement to this Medal and both Clasps. He appears to have been employed with The Peninsula and Oriental Steam Navigation Company (otherwise known as P&O) in command of the passenger liners Sutlej and Sumatra when tasked with transporting troops to China and South Africa during the Boxer Rebellion and Second Anglo-Boer War respectively. His name later appears as a Commander in the Royal Naval Reserve under a list of those entitled to fly the Blue Ensign, and is additionally noted as holding the R.N.R. Officers' Decoration (Navy List, October 1911, p.520c, refers).
