(x) Naval General Service 1793-1840, 1 clasp, Boat Service 24 May 1814 (Richd. Keys, Master's Mate.), slight trace of adhesive label to obverse, otherwise good very fine

Richard Keys (also noted as 'Keays') served as a junior officer aboard H.M.S. Elizabeth, a 74-gun ship-of-the-line, when the ships' boats captured the six-gun French xebec Aigle from under the protection of a battery of artillery on the island of Vidho, off the coast of Corfu. Keys is confirmed upon the Medal Roll, and of twelve claimants of this clasp he is one of only three officers - the others being a Midshipman and Lieutenant Mitchell Roberts R.N., the commander of the boats.
