Skull and Rose, FOR KING AND COUNTRY milled edge downwards, 12.05g, 12h (Spink K40A), faint nailmarks to fields and devices, stain to obverse legend, otherwise somewhat lustrous, bold very fine, an historic error, the first to be encountered on a British coin since the DECIMO SEPTIMO muling of the 1847 Gothic Crown, in NGC holder, graded MINT ERROR AU53 (Cert. #6135258-002)
Preliminary investigation by this cataloguer of reported examples would suggest this rare muling, apparently produced in one mint journey with one pair of dies may affect as many as 1 in 100 or as few as 1 in 10,000 of the 'Tragedy' 2016 Commemorative issue £2 coins. The reported mintage was 4,615,000 pieces
