Edward VIII, Fantasy Proof Crown, '1937', struck c. 1955, by Pinches for Hearn, head right, rev. St. George and Dragon, plain edge, 30.86g, 12h (cf. ESC pp. 582 unlisted in silver [391D]) contact mark to reverse field, lightly handled, otherwise brilliant fields and lightly toned, near as struck, extremely rare for this date
Examples of Hearn's imagined Edward VIII Crown are always popular at auction, with most bearing the date of abdication in 1936. Far fewer however are encountered dated for the year of the planned Coronation (1937).
