Great Britain: Middleton & Tonge Cotton Mill Co. Ltd., £5 share, 18[79], lovely large vignette of Dane Mills with a variety of transport, black. Incorporated in March 1860 to erect a cotton mill on land acquired at Tonge, near Middleton, Lancashire. By 1871 3 mills had been built as is shown in this large vignette. After some years in liquidation and attemps at reconstruction the receiver gave instructions for the machinery to be sold at auction in 1914. The huge site at the time contained over 120,000 spindles. Tiny rust mark, VF. NO RESERVE
