Great Britain: Cheque Bank Limited, £5 ordinary shares, 189[7], #1007, black and £1 founders shares, 189[1900], #1732, black on pink paper, this with capital reduction overprinted on face. Established in 1873 to introduce bearer cheques of fixed amounts for which the issuer had already paid so that there was no risk of the cheque 'bouncing' . Of course the introduction of the Postal Order by the Post Office a few years later put an end to this useful idea. Both VF and scarce (2).
