Malaya/Hongkong: Batu Anam (Johore) Rubber Estates Ltd., 1 tael shares, Hongkong 19[13], #2086, signed by E.S.Kadoorie, brown. Sir Eleazor Silas Kadoorie KBE (1867-1944), businessman and philanthropist. From the extremely wealthy family of Jewish businessmen, originally from Bagdad, then Bombay and finally settling in Shanghai. He was imprisoned in 1942 by the Japanese and died in Prison 2 years later. There was a boom in HK registered companies operating in Malaya before the war and was one of the most active components of both the HK and Shanghai Stock exchanges. EF.
