India: Eastern Electric Light & Power Company Ltd., £5 shares, part paid, 18[82], #393, signed by James Pender as Director, ornate border, black. Registered 1881 to supply light and power in India and the East. Voluntary liquidation 1884. Sir James Pender, eldest son of Sir John Pender (of Telegraph fame), later also director of Globe Telegraph; Telegraph Construction and Maintenance, and chairman of Kodak 1898-1913, created a baronet in 1897 and served as MP for Northamptonshire 1895-1900. Very fine and scarce.
