Malaya/Hongkong: Chemor United Rubber Co. Ltd., 10 candareen shares, Hongkong 19[32], #3904, signed by E.S.Kadoorie, vignette of rubber trees, capital overprinted in red, green, printed by the Columbian Bank Note Co. Owned 1200 acres in Perak. Sir Eleazor Silas Kadoorie KBE (1867-1944), businessman and philanthropist. From the extremely wealthy family of Jewish businessmen, originally from Bagdad, then Bombay and finally settling in Shanghai. He was imprisoned in 1942 by the Japanese and died in Prison 2 years later. There was a boom in HK registered companies operating in Malaya before the war and it was one of the most active components of both the HK and Shanghai Stock exchanges. EF.
