Great Britain: Burgoyne Mining Company, one share, 184[0], #788, plain black printing on grey paper, signed by 3 directors. Copper and Lead mines at Ecton Staffordshire in the Peak District National Park. Work at these mines goes back to the 14th century and were owned by the Dukes of Devonshire and the Burgoyne family in the 16th Century. This company, formed in 1837, acquired the rights to mine from the Duke of Devonshire but the copper ore was almos exhausted. AEF and rare.
