Great Britain: The Stock Exchange, 3% debenture for £1000, [1899], #95, large format piece with ornate border, red, impressed duty stamps, signed by two trustees, perforated cancelled. The London Stock Exchange has its origins in Jonathans Coffee House in 1698 but formally organised in 1773. This issue of £350,000 of debentures, of which there were only 200 of this denomination, was presumably issued to fund some infrastructure. Only a handful are known. we sold this example for £320 in 2012 and have not handled one since. VF and rare.
