This famous locomotive building company was established in Newcastle by George Stehenson, his son and Edward Pease in 1823. This company was organised in 1899 to take over the original partnership and the works transferred to Darlington. Merged with fellow locomotive builders, Hawthorn, Leslie & Co., in 1937 to become Robert Stephenson & Hawthorns Ltd. VF and rare.
