South Africa: Percy Gold Mining Company Ltd., £1 shares, Johannesburg 188[9], #516, signed by Bernard Oppenheimer as Director, decorative brown printing. Doornfontein, Witwatersrand in underprint. Bernard Oppenheimer 1866-1921, a South African-British diamond merchant and philanthropist. He was chairman of numerous diamond mining companies and went on to found the Bernard Oppenheimer Diamond Works for injured and disabled soldiers, in Brighton. For this he was made Baronet in 1921, also sadly the year of his death at only 55. Single spike hole top left, near EF.
