Military Mail
First Burmese War, 1824-26
1825 (29 July) entire letter ex the Tweedie correspondence from Rangoon to Edinburgh, showing various rate marks, Calcutta G.P.O. c.d.s. and, on reverse, framed "india letter/london". Interesting contents include "I have been since last May with the expedition at Rangoon in charge of the Field Hospital". Also two further letters, one from Calcutta to Tweedie "Surgeon on the Expedition Rangoon", marked "p. Enterprize" - the vessel used to carry despatches in and out of Rangoon during the war, the other from Calcutta to Tweedie who has now returned to Edinburgh. A fascinating group
