Auction: 21125 - Spink Numismatic e-Circular 11: Indian & Islamic Coins
Lot: 7160

Sikh Empire, Ranjit Singh (VS 1856-96; 1799-1839), Gobindshahi Rupee, 8.51g, Peshawar, VS 1892 (1835), issued by Hari Singh Nalwa, with '92' also on obverse, rev. beaded leaf (Herrli 13.02.04; KM 98.2), lightly toned, extremely fine and well struck, a beautiful and rare coin

Peshawar was annexed by Ranjit Singh in 1835 and his General was made acting governor with the right to strike his own coins. These were only struck for four years: VS 1891, 1892, 1893 and 1894, so they are scarce and much sought after.
