Martin Behrens was born at Manchester on 3 March 1897, the son of George and Helen of Fron Yw, Denbigh. He served during the Great War in Salonika as with the South Wales Borderers from September 1916. During the Second World War he joined the South African Air Force at Cape Town, having been working as a Clerk with the Palestine Electric Corporation in Haifa. He was discharged in January 1946; sold together with copied Service Record.
His brother Lieutenant R. P. Behrens, 2nd Battalion, South Wales Borderers, served at Tsingtao in 1914 and was killed in action on 25 April 1915 at S Beach, Gallipoli.
