(x) India General Service 1895-1908, 1 clasp, Punjab Frontier 1897-98 (2310 Pte. W. Channell 3d. Bn. Rif. Bde.), minor official correction to number, otherwise nearly extremely fine

William Vincent Channell was born in 1870 at Paddington and joined the Rifle Brigade on 25 April 1892. Having been charged with drunkenness in 1893, he joined the 3rd Battalion in India and found himself doing 10 days hard labour in September 1896. The unit formed part of the Tochi Field Force but found themselves being struck down with fever and dysentery. Channell died on 19 November 1897 at Bannu, South Khyber during the campaign; sold together with copied research.
