Queen's South Africa 1899-1902, 5 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Johannesburg, Diamond Hill, Belfast (Tpr: H. Laishley. French's Scouts.), very fine

H. Laishley was posted Prisoner of War - released near Bethesda Road on 10 August 1901, Gazetteer refers:

'A station in the Cape Colony (Graaff-Reinet district; Eastern Cape) on the Graaff-Reinet railway 50 km south of Middelburg. Variants: Bethesdaweg (Afrikaans spelling used on the 1: 250,000 map); New Bethesda (used by Wilson); Nieu-Bethesda (Afrikaans spelling of New Bethesda); Bethesda (CR). Near here, Cmdt J.L. Theron's commando acting with Cmdt J.C. Lötter captured a party of 60 of French's Scouts (a locally raised unit) on 10 August 1901.'

Laishley later served as a Trooper (No. 40817) in the Canadian Scouts and with the South African Constabulary from 30 June 1902-29 June 1905; sold together with related uniform button.
